WHY US?

The question of "Why Us?", for me to answer that, we need to go back to the beginning of Blackstar....

 

In 2020, my wife and I had a container home built for us by a well known Central Texas builder. From the beginning, construction was strewn with problems. Build timelines were missed time and time again, plus a severe lack of communication from the builder regarding every aspect of construction made us feel uneasy and stressed.

The day we received the container home on our property, it was devastatingly apparent that we had purchased a real disaster. Shoddy build techniques that were not even close to code, used building materials instead of new, multi-trip container instead of a one trip as we had paid for, it arrived with a broken window and broken front door. The electrical was dangerously installed and plumbing that didn't work properly.

We were angry, disappointed, and full of regret. The builder offered us nothing for compensation and refused to make things right despite bing the biggest builder in Texas. Time passed and the container deteriorated quickly. We discovered water leaks, rust issues, mold, and the failure of the container itself. We were forced to rebuild, mostly from the ground up.

We realized what this industry was lacking in general; quality craftsmanship,  building "to code", and transparency with regards to each build.

 

We started Blackstar to offer a different approach to building container homes.

• We only use single trip containers in our builds.

• We build our homes only with steel studs (not wood) to control mold and condensation of the outer wall.

• We employ welders that have been certified to weld pipeline with extreme tolerances, to combat any leaks.

• We contract with licensed subcontractors that know what it means to build to code.

• We use water resistant sheetrock, quality finishes, and name brand appliances.

• We do not use "Luxury Vinyl" flooring, cheap shower enclosures, or cut corners to increase our profit margins.

• We have a strict quality control supervisor in place to overwatch ever aspect of each build.

• We build EVERY  home as if it was OUR HOME, and we were going to live in it. 

 

Any home we build, has been designed here at Blackstar, (not stolen from the internet) then given to our very own Blackstar architect to finalize the design and maximize the build plans for strength and integrity of the container home before it gets put into production.
